When someone you love drinks

You didn’t cause it, you can’t control it, and you can’t cure it. But you can get help for yourself.

Al-Anon and Alateen

Al-Anon is a separate fellowship for the families and friends of alcoholics. It doesn’t matter whether your person is still drinking or ever comes to A.A. Alateen is the same idea for teenagers.

Al-Anon meetings change often, so use Al-Anon’s own finder or call their line for the current list in Lake County.

Bring them to an open meeting

Family members and friends are welcome at any open A.A. meeting. At the club, that’s the open speaker meeting on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month at 7 pm. It’s a good way to hear what recovery sounds like.

Take Al-Anon’s quiz

Twenty questions to help you decide whether Al-Anon is for you. There’s a version for adults, one for people who grew up with a drinker, and one for teens.
